May 2020 Indexed Universal Life Cap Rate Change
Recent economic factors, including increased market volatility and low-interest rates, making it necessary to decrease the cap rate for indexed universal life (IUL) policies. The cap rate changes will apply to both new issue and existing policies and will be effective for new index segments starting May 1. There is no change to other segment modifiers, including participation rates, floor rates, and the segment charge. The Principal life illustration system and WinFlex will be updated with the new index cap rates effective May 1. The update will also include new maximum illustrated rates, which will be lower as a result of the reduced index cap rates.

Update to BUDBI Indexes effective 4/21/2020
Bloomberg is making changes to the popular BUDBI indexes (Bloomberg US Dynamic Balance Index, Bloomberg US Dynamic Balance Index II, and Bloomberg US Dynamic Balance II ER Index) in order for the indexes to better control volatility during extremely volatile times. In an effort to better control volatility, a cash element is being added to the Indexes. As always, the indexes seek to accomplish the same goal: to dynamically control volatility by shifting daily between equity, fixed income, and now cash. As part of that long-standing commitment, we are continuously reviewing our solutions and looking for opportunities to improve contract language. As a result, effective April 13, 2020, all newly issued Lincoln MoneyGuard III policies will include an endorsement titled Lincoln Living Well, which replaces the Lincoln Concierge Care Coordination contract language, in states where approved. This contract update provides Lincoln with the flexibility to continue to add a variety of wellness care management tools and new technologies as they become available. ASSET TRANSFER TIPS
For all annuity carriers
Transferring assets, or exchanging money via section 1035 of the tax code, may have tax consequences. Any questions regarding taxation should be referred to a qualified tax professional.
Call the Financial Institution/Insurance Company to see what they require to transfer the money e. g. some financial institutions, like Fidelity, require a call from the client to release money, others like Northwestern Mutual require their own surrender form to accompany the 1035/transfer form from the company receiving the money.

Attach a copy of a current policy/ account statement for the funds being transferred to the 1035/transfer document.
Complete the 1035/transfer form carefully and completely. Be sure all necessary signatures are obtained.
Send original transfer forms with the application to 3 Mark for processing.
